From Forest to Sky: A Challenge Toward a Sustainable Society

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and patronage.

MORISORA Biorefinery LLC, established in July 2025 by three companies—Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd., Sumitomo Corporation, and Green Earth Institute Co., Ltd.—has officially launched following an investment from Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. in October 2025.

As a measure against climate change, the demand for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is increasing in the aviation industry. In Japan, which relies on imports from overseas for the majority of its energy resources, the creation of purely domestic energy utilizing domestic forest resources is of extreme importance not only for decarbonization but also from the perspective of national energy security. Given this background, we aim to stably manufacture and supply purely domestic bioethanol utilizing domestic timber. Through the widespread use of this bioethanol, which also serves as a raw material for SAF and other products, we will create new utilization value for timber, while also working toward the construction of a decarbonized society through resource circulation, regional revitalization, and the realization of a sustainable future.

Under the slogan "Turning the Power of the Forest into the Power to Fly," we will consolidate the strengths of our member companies and aim to build a robust supply chain connecting raw material chips to ethanol.

The company name "MORISORA Biorefinery" embodies our strong determination to achieve our aspiration of "Turning the Power of the Forest into the Power to Fly" through biorefinery technology. We will steadily advance our initiatives toward commercial production around 2030. We sincerely ask for your continued warm support and guidance.
